Which are the available configuration levels for pressure sensors?

The various possible configuration levels for a pressure measurement solution are not defined conceptually in any standard. At WIKA we’ve chosen the following terminology:
Pressure sensor (Pressure transmitter)

A pressure sensor (also pressure transmitter) delivers a standardised, processed signal within a housing with commonly available pressure connection and electrical connection. Typically, it might be coded and ordered as a catalogue product and therefore supplies the customer with a plug-and-play solution. Nevertheless, customised versions are possible when backed up with a corresponding ?business case?.

Pressure sensor module
A pressure sensor module is made for OEM applications. It delivers a standardised and calibrated signal, but could be customised with regard to connections and size. EMC protective measures should be arranged in the customer application.
Sensor elements and their assemblies
Sensor elements and their assemblies
Sensor elements and their assemblies deliver an uncalibrated signal in mV/V and may be designed to suit the customer through corresponding modifications of the pressure connection or addition of an incident etc. Here the client is in charge of the calibration and therefore for the accuracy achieved.
